TítuloASPECTOS PSICO-SOCIAIS RELACIONADOS COM A SAÚDE REPRODUTIVA E QUALIDADE DE VIDA DE PESSOAS VIVENDO COM HIV/AIDS EM TRATAMENTO EM SERVIÇOS PÚBLICOS DO RIO DE JANEIRO, BRASIL

Descrição:The proposed study will interview a sample of 900 PLWHA, aged 18 to 50, currently under treatment in 6 public health facilities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Specific aims: 1. To quantitatively assess the associations between psycho-social and structural factors, including (a) HIV/HAART-related knowledge, attitudes and beliefs, (b) HIV-related acceptance and stigma; (c) socio-economic context and HIV-related health behaviors such as protected sexual behavior, adherence to HAART, and HIV-related biomedical outcomes such as STI prevalence and viral load/CD4 count. 2. To qualitatively examine: a) the ways in which PLWHAŽs acceptance of their HIV diagnosis evolves over time; b) to document the psycho-social experiences and material resources which may influence shifts in HIV acceptance; and c) the perceived links between HIV acceptance and HIV-related health behaviors.
